The Red Bull Music Academy’s bringing down an artist you just cannot miss.
One-half of the legendary house duo, Masters At Work (alongside “Little” Louie Vega) who have remixed legends like Michael Jackson and Madonna to Daft Punk. As a solo artist, Mr. Dope’s oeuvre is no less impressive. The New Yorker’s career goes back 25 years over which he’s been nominated for a Grammy four times. His individual breakthrough came through in 1995 with the release of his album, “The Bucketheads”, of which “The Bomb” — one track — broke through all sorts of charts, and infiltrated the European scene. Dope’s influences are as varied as his music: House, hip-hop, Latin, jazz, reggae, funk, soul … strains of all these great genres get fused in tracks that are as fresh and authentic as the day he started.
